melcharWas listening to the radio. The topic was a bill in Congress [H.R.184 - Adoption Tax Relief Guarantee Act of 2011], part of which expands who are allowed to adopt children. The first few calls were about unmarried couples desiring to adopt - and then it turned into a big 'but that may let teh gays adopt - shock, horror'!
Half the callers sounded sane - in that in that they were not frothing droolers - and mainly called in to oppose the ranters. Almost all of these ranters used the terms 'gay agenda' and 'shoving what they want down our throats' in their rants. A couple of the droolers though made me wonder what rock they'd crawled out from under.
One was apoplectic that gays had the nerve to want rights and be treated like normal people. Normal people? Really?
Another asked why gays couldn't just live quietly in their homes and stop making so much noise.
And most of them also were complaining about Prop 8 and why their votes didn't count when they were the majority.
Call me naive, but I expect better from Californians. Heck, I expect better from sentient beings!
