Amused and annoyed

Amused: while grocery shopping today, someone commented that my choice of clothes and hat reminded them of Minerva McGonagall in an entirely approving fashion.

Annoyed: more than 20 years ago, we started a Bank of the West savings/checking account that gave free services in exchange for a combined minimum balance. We were never notified that this had changed [and we do read the bank statements]. Today I learned that the account type we signed up with changed - and another [to all accounts identical] type of account that did the same things was begun. We were not told of the change, NOR was out account type changed from A to B - and charges have been made to our account in the intervening ... at least 3 ... years. [Less than $100, it appears, but STILL!] It took a bank flunky '2 keystrokes' [his words] to change the account from A to B ... so why in the firking ding did they not DO this?

I have called the phone number my bank gave me no fewer than twelve times today, attempting to activate my new ATM card (which my bank has sent repeated mailing to remind me that it could be activated no earlier than 10:00AM today, and the old one will stop working tomorrow), and getting a busy signal each time. Which is to say, I feel you. Banks, man.

Yep, got it in one! I woke up the next day to find an article in the local paper about the issue and to a conciliatory message on the bank's website inviting me to activate the card online. :P
