Saw the new Harry Potter movie and enjoyed it. They left out -tons- of the book but left much of the important plot points. It was not so chopped up that it was -too- sketchy, but I hope the DVD has an expanded version. Gary Oldman was great and the gal who played Luna was marvellous. All the actors did well their roles IMO.

But -dang- I hope they do the next book in 2 parts.

Yup, I really like Luna too. She reminded me of a college girlfriend, a few months before she was moved to the Washington State Home for the Cute But Bewildered.

Luna was great. And the next movie is a single parter. I just hope they let it run longer than this one. 2:18 is short for a Potter movie.

Luna is a new actress from Ireland. And a total HP Fan. She was so jazzed when she got the role. I think she is lovely in it, too.
And I hope the DVD is longer too. This movie more than any other, you really need to have seen the other movies AND read the book(s)! But it visually did such a nice job of showing off the more visual parts of the book.
I really liked the dinner table with Tonks showing off. Yeah Tonks!

Well I want them to film "Half-Blood Prince" and "Deathly Hallows" together. (Cf., "The Three Musketeers"/"The Four Musketeers", "Lord Of The Rings 1-3" and "Pirates of the Carribean 2 & 3") It would let them 'catch up' to the rate at which the actors are aging, and there won't be any reason for further delay, once the seventh book is out. Not to mention they'll have to continue cutting out side-storys and peripheral issues anyway just to make it all fit -- and that makes for trouble later on, since it's difficult to "add back in" something that was removed from an earlier movie.

By now, they should know where the last two movies need to go and at which stops they simply must stop along the way. I doubt that, even with two movies, they'll have much time left for digressions after taking care of the essential plot and character elements.

I have to admit, I wasn't thrilled with it (did the midnight showing thing....could be part of the reason!) It reminded me of how "Chamber of Secrets" was stripped down to the bare essentials, leaving the "heart" of the movie in the extra scenes of the DVD. But, it will have a chance to redeem itself when I see it again this Friday when the local Whovians combine the movie with the "Deathly Hallows" release party.

I'm glad they trimmed the 'Potter angst' to a bearable minimum. ^_^ I understand that so much had to be left out, but . . . sure wish more had been left in. What was there, tho, was very good, IMO

They needed more Tonks - more of the rest of the Order [and more explanation about the Order, for that matter]. It was a very nice movie, but I wanted it to be much longer. ^_^

Maybe we'll get lucky with the DVD and there'll be an expanded version
