Trying something new = and it's fun
Aug. 19th, 2009 03:04 pmI downloaded the game client for 'Imagine' - an online MMO set in the Shin Megami Tensei universe. The 1.4 gigs took 8 hours but it installed just fine. it's hosted by Aeria Games [a free game hosting site = http://www.aeriagames.com/]. So I logged in and gave it a try.
It's pretty fun. Sort of a cross between 'Digital Devil Saga' and 'Devil Summoner'. The first couple of levels are the tutorial - and while it is OK - the game could use a LOT more:
rules explanation [especially about weapon breakage!];
access to an online help or referee
My guy [game name = Darcane] was in the middle of the fighting tutorial and suddenly stopped doing damage. Another player told me my weapon was broken - and was VERY nice - went and bought one for my guy. Because once in the tutorial you can't LEAVE it. [So very much thank you SpIdAr!!] And he explained some of the game more than the -tutorial- did. So it's not perfect joy, but it is fun.

Date: 2009-08-19 10:41 pm (UTC)I'm doing Nocturne right now. Not sure if I'll finish it or not; it's awfully grindy. Is Digital Devil Saga any better in that regard?

Date: 2009-08-20 12:34 am (UTC)'Digital Devil Saga' is a lot less grindy [or it's just easier to level in it and the optional bosses are -much- easier to identify and avoid, if you choose that]
... and yeah, 'Imagine' is designed for Windoze machines and don't have a Mac option.
[There are times I feel so divided - I have 2 Mac/2 PCs now and keep wanting more games to be made for Macs.]
