Just ... ouch

Offically diagnosed with shingles. According to my doctor it's 'the worst case he's ever seen'. Marvellous. It blankets my entire left side, from mid-point to spine, a spread-hand's width. It feels like a really bad burn ... and I've been told it may linger for -weeks-.

... it most reminds me of some of the random topological continent maps I've generated in CivIII ...

Yours apparently isn't as bad as mine was, though it appears to cover a lot more area. Mine was the absolute worst pain I have ever experienced. It was, in fact, so bad that I CANNOT REMEMBER that time much at all, and people informed me that I was screaming and crying -- something utterly uncharacteristic of me.

Shingles is the one thing gridlore ever got a textbook case of. (You're a mirror image of him now, melchar; his were on the right, in about the same place.) He described it at the time as feeling as though he'd been run through. The scarring - and nerve damage - are impressive to this day.

Yeah, my parents got the Shingles vaccine this past fall. My grandfather had a few mild attacks and that was enough.

Oh Ouch! Big Harold had a very mild case and even that was bad.
Can they give you anything After the shingles have started?
