Paying the Clumsy Tax

melcharPoured freshly hot bacon grease all over the inside of my right hand last Friday. Clumsy me. Did this at the kitchen sink, so immediately dunked my hand in a soaking bowl - then under the cold water tap. Spent the rest of that day holding an ice pack [save when I was letting the skin warm up again].
The hand didn't blister. Yay! As I held it there under the tap, my thought was 'gee, this hurts about that same as the shingles I've had'. [Now for 2 months.] My complaint is that it's now Wednesday and my hand is almost completely normal again. So why can't this be the case with the shingles?! There's a design flaw somewhere. ^_^
