'I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace; that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a Congress! And by God, I have had this Congress!'
And yet, it's so much easier for people to blame the president for the state of the country. This aint exactly new territory here...historically a nearly-evenly divided Congress rarely, if ever, gets any kind of major legislation passed. Only when one party regains a significant majority will anything happen.
But this Congress has gone off the rails into insanity land. Rep. Cantor demanding budget cuts before OKing disaster relief money? Bwuh?
Plus the 'echo machine' [this times Fox media] has some flacks saying the National Weather Service should be disbanded to save their 1 billion budget because 'we have the Weather Channel' [which uses the NWS weather feeds]. ...which would be bad enough if there hadn't been some Tea Partiers - and Rep. candidates repeat the stupidty.
I do know of a couple of people who think that they should remove the AC from all congressional and senatorial offices, used to be the Govt broke for summer cause it was too damn hot to legislate for 4 months out of the year....I think they should also remove the heaters, so it can be too damn cold another 4 months out of the year.
Removing the heat would be cruel - but removing the AC would give them a -reason- to get out of DC. Wonderful idea! They refuse to work for most of the summer anyway [ie, give themselves recesses so they can vacation, junket & campaign on our dime].
All things considered, it amazes me that the Congressional approval rate is as -high- as 15%.
