After leaving it alone for months, I went back and finished 'Dragon Age' [with my female elf mage, got the good ending & survived]. The ending bits were fun & IMO there should be an 'acheivement' for watching the end credits of the game. ^_^

Starting 'Bioshock 2' now.

I enjoyed Dragon Age. Shame that they eliminated the "make your own character" and thus multiple sub-plotlines from DA2.

I -loved- the character making in 'DA'. I made a character for every background and ran all of the introductions [spent an average of 2 hours on each of them]. Best intros I've ever seen and the character interactions will likely suck me back in to play it through again.

Seeing me finish the game spurred my hubby to start a new game [male Dalish elf rogue] - and it's fun to watch him play the game. OMG the Morrigan scenes! [Alister - 'swooping is bad']

Have you got the supplements and extensions to the game? Several of them are worthwhile.

So, were you an all out hero, reluctant hero, or dragged unwillingly into heroism? (While you can do bad things, DA doesn't seem to let you choose to NOT save the world...)

I finished the game twice; once as a female human mage and the second time as a male human warrior. The female mage fell in love with Alistair but then had to lose him in the final battle. The warrior flirted around a bit but was mostly interested in the assassin-turned-bard Leleiana. He did take Morrigan up on her offer and thereby was able to take on the Archdemon himself, but he was also willing to spare Loghain and to my surprise Alistair was utterly unable to overcome his anger and BLEW US OFF in the final battle. One of the scenes in which I *really* wanted the ability to do real roleplay, because as Jared Engelshand (the name of the character I was playing) I wanted to smack some sense into Alistair.

That's adorable! ...and yes, Alistair deserves some smackage.

I have a tendency to play the all good sorts of character. Hmmm....no, not quite the right description. Ah! I play kleptomaniacs with a heart of gold: unable to overlook or ignore 'the shinies' as I go about saving the world.

It's a shame, I really liked Alistair.

Maybe I need to play through as one who insists on being the ruler him/herself. "I did the goddamn work, now I'm the goddamn Batm...er, King!"

The ending with my mage girl - setting Anora on the throne as queen - made me kind of contemplative. That royal line is SO doomed. As a solo queen, the notes post-game says she never marries/never has kids. Any male warden who would get the throne [Alistair or a male noble PC] are sterile.

If you go to the next closer relative, Arl Eamon, his only child is a mage ... and it doesn't look like Eamon is going to have another kid - though -that- would be something, at least.

Other than that, it's the Landsmeet and chaos. ^_^

The PC could easily fix THAT bit. "I've seen everything, I've done everything. I can reason with you all. And if you won't LISTEN, I can WHIP YOU ALL. With my BARE HANDS. And all of your guards, too. AT ONCE.

"So we are going to be reasonable, and civilized, and we will WORK THROUGH our disagreements. Or we will go back to the Bad Old Days, and we will STILL end up doing things my way, but in that case a lot of you will be spending long and painful days with the healers. Choose. Choose WISELY."

Which reminds me of two other things in Oblivion that annoy me:

1) Allies who INSIST on leaping IN FRONT OF YOU just as you swing your sword or fire off that spell, so that you kill them and suddenly it's all "Stop right there, Evildoer! Your spree is at an end!" and the Assassin's Guild contacting me because I'm a "cold blooded killer".

2) I was CHOSEN for this mission by your last Emperor before he died, I'm the frickin' Hero of Kvatch, the Archmage, the Champion of the Arena, [EDIT: the Divine Crusader, bane of Umaril the Unfeathered], the man who closed a dozen Oblivion gates BY HIMSELF, and the person who rescued Martin, brought him what he needed, held off the hordes of Hell, and was PART of the battle against Mehrunes Dagon and Martin-Turned-Dragon. (A) Just who else do you THINK should be your next choice for Emperor? and (B) Why do you all react to me in conversation as though I was still some first-level dweeb? If I *do* go berserk in your town, do you think anything short of the Nine Themselves can STOP me?

I also have enjoyed playing Oblivion and, more recently, Fallout 3. I wish there was a game that crossed Dragon Age and Oblivion; they each have some really neat features and their strengths generally would cover the others' weaknesses. (For example, there's strong relationship threads in Dragon Age but almost nothing of the sort in Oblivion; there's a wide-open "go anywhere" in Oblivion while Dragon Age is stuck with a Nintendo-1990s "only go to these points" approach)

I have an unfinished 'Oblivion' game that I get back to every now and then. I really like the horses - and wish the game allowed flight [or levitation] like Morrowind did. I've done the 'pencil' trick for climbing, but it's pretty difficult.

I played through 'Fallout 3' - then bought the 'game of the year' version for all the dl content [our home connection sucks for large downloads of contents, thus I don't get the dls unless they are issued on disk]. I've completed the alien abduction content [and have SO many energy cells, disruptor rifles and weightless squid food %_%] - am doing ALL the optional jobs [am a level 22 saint in that game] and having lots of fun with it.

If a game is fun, I really enjoy playing the heck out of it and replaying it a lot. [I replay FFX a lot & have FF7 on my PSP right now.] I replayed the original 'Bioshock' 3x just because I loved that storyline - and the 2nd time had to find ALL the tape recorders. Clever games that I can finish without being a complete twitch-maniac are time-sinks that I adore. ^_^
