[[ 33 grams of fat total in sauce; serves 4-6 people ]]
[[ 3 grams of fat per cup cooked egg noodles, or half a gram of fat per cup of cooked rice ]]
1 Tablespoon Crisco [or other vegetable shortening] [12 g fat]
1 Tablespoon minced onion flakes [or a diced fresh onion]
12 ounces of top sirloin steak, cut into small cubes [20 g fat]
1/2 cup flour [half a gram of fat]
toss meat cubes in flour, braise in hot [melted] crisco in frying pan, with onion
++ add all flour not on meat to 1/2 cup water, mix to remove lumps and add to braising meat ++
once lightly browned, move entire contents into large saucepot you intend to cook sauce in
to this add:
mushrooms [I use about 2 lbs of fresh mushrooms, or 6 cans of button mushrooms]
[[if using fresh mushrooms, throw them in to braise with the meat &
[[reduce later added water by 1/2 cup, as mushrooms will cook down
1 teaspoon garlic powder**
1 teaspoon minced garlic** [** you can reduce amount of garlic, if desired]
2 teaspoon salt
mix together in separate container =
1 pint fat free sour cream
3 Tablespoons of Worchester sauce
1 cup water,
when well mixed, add to saucepot and stir well
add 1/2 cup more water to container and get all the sour cream residue off sides and add to saucepot
stir well until mix comes to a slow boil, then reduce heat to simmer for 2 hours. [stir every 30-minutes]
Serve over either cooked egg noodles or cooked rice [3 cups water to 1 cup white rice/1/2 cup wild rice]
