Tooth troubles

melcharTerrible teeth strike again. Had them cleaned today/full set of oral Xrays ... for $350. 2 small cavities will be filled next week - and cost at least that much again. However - there was decay found below the crown on the lower-left back molar, on the root of the tooth.
The options were to try a heroic rescue of the once-root-canalled molar or to extract it. The extraction will cost at least $500 & require an oral surgeon. Earliest time for the extraction is just before the Ides of March.
Since the molar has had no corresponding upper molar to strike against for about the last 10 years, losing the tooth will not impact chewing. And my mouth hurts from the cleaning. At least the soon-to-be-lost tooth has not been hurting ...any more than the rest of my mouth, right now.
