I'm not having problem with alerts, since I have none set. I'm also in Second Wind's Patreon [among others subscribed to] - but I use my own list of bookmarks that I visit every day or so looking for new content. Thus this is not an issue for me, but I've heard complaints from some friends who are [*gasp*] different from me and use other methods, so I thought the topic worth commenting on.

For this one I'm more blaming the "Everything must be suitable for kids!" wave that seems to be overwhelming us at the moment.

The 'for the children' nonsense is just another manifestation of the 'Satanic Panic' about Dungeons and Dragons from the earlier 1980's** - and the devil-worshipping daycare child abuse panic of the 1990's.

It's just that now people are using it as another way to control the behavior of others - and YouTube has fastened onto the idea like a leech, hoping to monetize the moment.

One of my players was his daughter. ^_^ Then I showed the game mechanics, dice, rules and ran a sample game for these to-me old men, showing that the 'purpose' of the game was the fight of Good against Evil. Hey, I was a SMART 15-y-o kid. They saw the game as presented as an inspiration to read, learn history & socially engage in a way that was non-sexual & did not involve the TV. My area of Southern California never did any of the D&D book burnings that happened elsewhere.>>
