Saw 2 DVDs. 'Pitch Black' - for the first time and enjoyed it a lot. Quite a decent little sf film [tho I thought the Caroline death at the end was needlessly gratuitous.

And saw 'The Returner' which is also pretty good. I have a quibble with the last 5 minutes of the flick, in that IMHO there were 3 plausible endings. #1 has the girl stuck in our time because her own does not exist any longer; #2 that she ceases to exist because the time she comes from no longer exists; or #3 that she is recalled back to her own time in a now-parellel Earth, since she could not change her own timeline, but could alter it on another Earth. In any of these conditions, there is no need for a 2nd visit from her [as it could be explained by prior knowledge] - and IMHO this 2nd trip greatly weakens the story.

cough cough, spoiler warning?

Im not complaining for me, I've seen pitch black numerious times. And they're not recent movies. But if you're recommending others see them...


Chronicles of Riddick, standing alone, is enjoyable.
Compared to Pitch Black, teh suck.

That's kind of what I was told. But when it comes to 'Pitch Black' I will recommend it as a quite decent genre flick.

But I won't expect much from 'Riddick' ^_^
