Spend the morning cleaning out bookcase #1 [of 5], pulled out all the books, dusted everything thoroughly and did a book weeding that eventually freed up a full shelf. [O how temporary THAT will be!]

Did a big dusting all around after that, vacuumed, did a batch of other cleaning - then showered and took my allergy meds because I was so itchy, snuffly, awful by then.

Once Trey agrees with the 'weeding' and those books get bagged, I'll do bookcase #2, hopefully tomorrow. [And I bet it'll be as dusty as #1]

Lesson learned...always take the meds first before cleaning bookcases :)

Book weeding! I always find myself, 5 years down the road, either re-buying books I weeded out or sitting and wishing I still had them -- and I have more books than "is natural", according to my bro.

Do you have a good used place that will trade them? Empty bookshelves are always just begging to be filled back up. ;) Mine usually with the credit from the ones I trade in, sigh!

And huh, taking the books OFF to dust. There's an idea...

I plan to take a lot of them to my science fiction club and offering them to the assembled throngs there. Rather have them read by chums.

The criteria for the weeding was 'will I ever want to read this book again' - and managed to find a lot that I wouldn't be reading again - so why not let someone else read 'em? ^_^

Noooo!!!

NOOOooooo!! Bad! You should never weed out books! Books provide usefull insulation when the temperature climbs or falls, helping keep the home cool in the summer and warm in the winter! The provide additional support (*when properly stacked) in case of an earthquake!
