Gaming weekend ^_^

Gamed a lot. Started a new mission for the Saturday crew [they get to go find a missing cleric for the Orange Goddess]. Got a chance to -play- Ardineniel in Tom's Sunday game ... and that was fun. Theoretically, the curses on Ferret were lifted - but I won't really believe it until after the next full moon.
Also played more 'Bioshock', checking every alcove and made it to the start of Arcadia. Died once when caught in a cross-fire between splicers and a Big Daddy [I -think- a shot I fired at a splicer attacking me ricocheted off and hit the Daddy]. That is still such a nifty game!

Date: 2007-10-16 01:21 am (UTC)I've been eyeballing Bioshock -- I haven't played a FPS outside of work in a long time. Definitely worth getting?

Date: 2007-10-16 06:29 am (UTC)That said, I've heard some bad things about the PC version - plus my PC is 2 years old now and would -kill itself- if I tried installing that PC version on it. It plays =great- on the Xbox 360. Not a crash yet. [Unlike several other games which a very good, but crashy ... hope I haven't jinxed meself.]
It is a gloriously gorgeous game; beautiful and fun to just walk in. I explore every inch of a nook, before going to the next area - and am amused by some of the effects I can do to the environment. {Although I will not hit any other kitties ... [there was something I thought was a stuffed toy ... and was a dead kitty - hit it with a wrench and ... ew]} There ARE stuffed toy bears, tho.
My 'run through and beat the game' chums have beat it in 15-20 hours and had a great time - but said the game was too short. I'm about 15 hours in and have made it to Arcadia [that I think is maybe 20-25% through?] and am having fun.
Of course, I am also amusing some of my chums who have been here the 3x I've played it thus far. [early evening visits - having them -laugh!- as I show them how the game looks, demonstrate weapons, am sneak around, get attacked and use the machine gun. My weapon style was compared to that of a rabid raccoon with a machine gun because I used almost all of a clip of 40 shots trying to hit 1 guy who jumped out at my guy - and hit walls, the ceiling - various scenery bits. Hit the guy too but it -was- pretty funny, especially with me going 'eep'.
I'm -much- more accurate with the other weapons, thankfully. ^_^
But if you like a good 'world' to explore, you don't mind the Ayn Rand philosophy [because this really is a capitalistic dystopia] - and a decent story [at least this far in] - then I'd recommend 'Bioshock'.
