Vargr is on his way back home to Colorado now. I hope his plane is not delayed or cancelled out of SFO to COS. Had the chance to have lunch with him, boojum & Shadowcat-x. Very nice lunch IMO: had triple shrimp scampi. [must try the stuffed shrimps next time at 'ye sign of the red crustacean'] Shadowcat-x was a bit sleepy [just waking up] and I hope she gets a call-back from the sleep-study clinic!

The oft-abused orchid on the deck is actually blooming. This makes 3 times in 15 years. It is a 'painted lady' and the spike of blooms is very lovely. Very unexpected.

Found a link to the 'worst jobs in history' - went and read about them. Yup. Those are some rank jobs, all right. Check out: http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/W/worstjobs/index.html

Safe in COS

The flight back was surprisingly pleasent: plane was only about 2/3 full so most had an empty seat beside them. It was one of the small Canadaire jets with a pair of seats on either side of the aisle - holds about 50 folks. Though the seats aren't any wider than the "big jets", they're spaced quite a bit farther apart from row to row, so you get nice knee and leg room.

Flight took off just about on time, though we did have to stand out on the tarmak for about 10 minutes in the rain while other commuter planes on either side of ours powered away to taxi to the runway.

Had a couple bumps while in flight, but was a much smoother flight than either the one to LA, or the one up from LA to SFO. And the baggage was already going 'round the carrosel by the time I got down to it. All told - an excellent trip home.

Thank you VERY VERY much for the lunch! Those lobster and crab stuffed shrimp were especially yummy! Better get your fill of them soon though - they're on the "lobsterfest" menu and might not be available once this promotion is over. Those stuffed mushrooms were pretty darn good to. Given the little snack of "cheese jets" (little cheese crackers shaped like airplanes) on the flight, it was very nice to have something substantial to tide the trip over.

That Orchid was definitely pretty, too! Very cool that it chose to bloom while Vargr was out there to see it. Especially since it's only bloomed 3 times in 15 years.

Well, it's definitely late late here. Time to sack out for work tomorrow. Looks like we're in for rain and snow all week here, just like your weather there (though ours is WAY too cold to walk to the car without a coat!).

Glad you got back home safely - and with a minimum of airport/airplane fuss. Also happy you liked lunch. It was a nice way to send you off - and we're already missing you.

BTW, you are -so- right. I'm going to have to try those stuffed shrimp! The nibble I had of yours was fabulous. Not that it's ever difficult for me to find a reason to go to 'ye old red lobster-critter' - but that is a real good one. It inspires haiku:

Mmmmm, lobster yummies
tasty treats are good to eat

Bathroom accessories every GM should have! *giggles* Hey, wuffy is thinking of getting a set for himself. Nice art, if a bit odd as to function. *big grin*

The stuff is cool to look at - but then I think: 'look at all those little finicky bits on the dragon wings and so forth - but it'd be -really- difficult to keep that all clean. And we -are- talking bathroom accessories, so that makes it even more difficult.

Now if you didn't let anyone else into the bathroom, things might be diferent.
