Back from Forthing
Jul. 30th, 2009 07:54 pmGot over the sore throat in time to take the plane to So.Calif and not be sick. The flight down to So.Calif was full and on time. Spent time with gil_liant's mom [so his sisters didn't have to worry about her ... since she just got a pacemaker ... while they went out camping with the little kids]. She's doing really excellently well and the time spent there was OK [albeit with a nigh total lack of internet].
The flight back was over-full [due to problems from the prior flight], but it also made excellent time and all was well, allowing gil_liant to pick me up & get me back home. Yay, home-ness is wonderful and I'm delighted to be here.

Date: 2009-08-06 04:55 am (UTC)I've been living in Austin, TX for about 11 years now, which (not coincidentally) turns out to be a dang fine town. *Most* of my socializing on teh int4rwebs these days is on lj.
The Warren, eh? I may just drop by!

Date: 2009-08-06 10:19 pm (UTC)By any chance do you play 'CoH'? [that would be nifty.] And I hope you're still getting a chance to play rpgs ... or even console games.
Re: Anyhoo...
Date: 2009-08-07 10:50 pm (UTC)I tend to go through cycles with video games in general; maybe 2-3 times a year I'll get really into a game for a while and then move on. A couple of years back I got *really* into CoV for a while, but ultimately moved on (much to the terrible chagrin of Dr. Hans Plasticine and Ezra Tarxien...)
I still game, though not *quite* as much as I used to. For the past year or so I've been running a bi-weekly Mage: the Ascension game. Before that, we were playing Over the Edge.

Date: 2009-08-10 05:38 am (UTC)Have you heard about the Champions MMO that is supposedly in development?
Re: Anyhoo...
Date: 2009-08-11 05:15 am (UTC)As for the 'Champions' beta, Vargr is on it and keeps some of us updated about it. Much of it sounds good, but a LOT of it sounds very bad. Sort of like WoW meets CoH - with everyone on a team needing to get the 'quest' [mission] items for it to count for them - AND the quest items having a v e r y slow drop rate ... like 20 minutes per drop chance. LOTS of problems with team-related things.
If you -like- the characters/agents/villains from the Champions rule set books, then you're more likely to enjoy it. But it really does sound like a 2nd try at the CoH idea ... with not nearly any improvements.
