Reincarnation

melcharSo yesterday the latest incarnation of Kiki was delivered. Essentially my laptops have the same name now. The Mac laptop is Aylee; the little backup PC laptop is Torg & my main PC laptop is Kiki. Both the old and the new Kiki are Dell Latitude PCI laptops [both 750 mhz, 256 ram, the old with a 10 gig HD, the new has a 20 gig HD].
Since the old Kiki is 2 years older than when I got her and showing signs of needing the OS reinstalled [or at least, having the programs I've added removed] - and with the power supply scare - I looks for a replacement. Found another on Ubid for $400 [after shipping] and it was delivered yesterday.
Spent the whole afternoon/evening transfering files and trying to find out where files were hidden in Win 2000 [which is different than Win 98]. Not sure I like the way it's set up, but am living with it.
Spent the afternoon/evening today doing more of the same and can get online now. Managed to transfer my mail files [-except- for what was in the 'inbox' section of the mail, whatever was in a folder transfered just fine]. Managed to transfer sound files, backgrounds, screen savers & my saved 'Torment' game files [and Baldur's Gate game files]
So I've spent a lot of time making stuff as close to they were as possible. Hope the latest incarnation of Kiki is nice and stable.
And I'll probably seek to sell the old Latitude on Half.com for $200. Bet it sells pretty fast, too, but I -so- don't want yet -another- laptop just sitting around. ^_^

(mine are named after things in my own writing, of course; the HD on this one is "Atlantaea", the one on my downstairs Mac is "Nowemosdet")
